DANCING WITH MYSELF

There are two versions of ‘Dancing with myself’:
Marathon: One woman dancing in a box for six hours
Relay: Women relaying themselves to dance in a box for six hours.

Like a dance marathon, as long as feet are moving, it counts. Dancing is completely free, it is the equivalent of singing in the shower, it is not trying to be pleasing to watch it is trying to be pleasing to perform.

Confronting the sexualised idea of of peep-shows, the audience is invited to peep through holes to watch the dance and has the possibility to listen to the same music as the dancer with wireless headphones.

It was commissioned by Folkestone Fringe in March 2013 and both versions were premiered at International Women’s Day Folkestone
